CapturedIt for macOS

Capture anything on your computer — not just what's in the browser. Screenshots, screen recordings, audio memos, file uploads, and AI search, all from your menu bar.

Why the desktop app?

Everything browser extensions can't do

Browser extensions are great for capturing web content. The desktop app goes further — it captures anything visible on your screen and works when the browser isn't even open.

Capture outside the browser

Screenshots of any app, any window, any region on your screen — design tools, terminals, Slack, Figma, PDFs. Browser extensions can only see browser tabs.

Screen & audio recording

Record your full screen, a selected region, or audio-only — then upload it straight to your library. Perfect for walkthroughs, voice memos, and demos.

Global shortcuts

Press ⌘⇧C to capture the screen, ⌘⇧R for a region, ⌘⇧W for a window, or ⌘⇧A to ask your library — from any app, without switching.

Drag-and-drop uploads

Drag any file onto the app — images, videos, audio, documents, PDFs — and it lands in your library instantly. No file picker needed.

Just Ask from the menu bar

Open CapturedIt from the menu bar, hit ⌘⇧A, and ask your library anything in natural language — "What did I save about that API?" — without opening a browser.

Offline queue & sync

No internet? No problem. Captures are queued locally and synced automatically when you reconnect. Browser extensions need a live connection.

Desktop app vs. browser extensions

Use them together for full coverage, or pick the one that fits your workflow. They share the same library.
